Providers and referrers must have a 1099 on file before they can be paid by KnowledgeBid. Providers and referrers can earn money by providing services or through referrals before a 1099 is on file, but a 1099 is required before the money can actually be paid out.

Administrators review all applications before they are passed on to buyers. This message is displayed during this period. Applications will be rejected by administrators if they contain inappropriate content, spam, or for any reason or no reason.

Applications (top)

Providers can submit applications for contracts. Providers select times which they are available to speak with the buyer and answer the buyer's questions specific to the listing. Applications placed on a listing can only be seen by the buyers that posted the listing.

Provider (top)

Like a buyer, anyone can be a provider. Buyers post listings, providers apply for contracts, and buyers select providers from those that apply. Buyers can see provider profiles of only those providers that apply for one of their contracts. Providers never know who buyers are, even if they contract with a buyer, unless a buyer tells the provider themselves.

Buyer (top)

Buyers purchase information and expertise on the KnowledgeBid platform. Anyone can buy on the system, but buyers tend to be investment professionals, consulting firms, marketers, professional researchers, companies and academics investigating specific segments of the global economy. Buyers can see provider profiles of only those providers that apply for their contracts. Providers never know who buyers are, even if they contract with a buyer, unless a buyer tells the provider themselves.

Buyer Accepted Application (top)

If a buyer accepts a application, this message is displayed above the application. Call details are included below the application, and the buyer and provider will receive email alerts containing the call information.

Buyer Did Not Respond (top)

After a provider has applied for a contract, buyers have 24 hours to accept or reject the application. If the buyer takes no action after 24 hours, this message is displayed above the application.

Buyer Info / Provider Info (top)

Buyer and provider info show core statistics about users' activity on KnowledgeBid. Listings display the number of listings a buyer has posted, the number of open contracts that the buyer currently has on KnowledgeBid, the number of contracts they have actually executed with providers, the number of different providers they have executed contracts with, and the total amount of money they have actually spent on the platform. Providers should be wary of buyers that have atypical Buyer Info, such a high number of listings and low number of executed contracts, or a high number of executed contracts with a low number of different providers. Buyer info can be seen by any user viewing a listing, but Buyer Info only contains summary transactional history, not the identity of the actual buyer.

Conference Call / Secure Conference Platform (top)

The KnowledgeBid Secure Conference Platform is a private VoIP network that enables buyers and providers to talk in a secure, safe, private environment. When a buyer selects a provider who has applied for one of the buyer's contracts, the buyer and provider are given dial-in details for a conference call on the Secure Conference Platform at the time selected by the buyer. Buyers and providers are reminded via email with call details just prior to the start of the call as well. Calls can be made from any type of phone and will be routed to the KnowledgeBid Secure Conference Platform where KnowledgeBid is able to monitor the duration of scheduled calls. As a result, KnowledgeBid is able to bill and pay buyers and providers based on the duration of the call.

Contract (top)

The number of contracts associated with a listing reflects the number of people a buyer wishes to speak to in relation to that particular listing. Listings must have at least one contract associated with them when they are created, and listings must have at least one available contract for the listings status to be 'open'.

Denied by Admin (top)

Administrators review all applications before they are passed on to a provider. This message is displayed when a message is denied by an administrator. Applications will be rejected by administrators if they contain inappropriate content, spam, or for any reason or no reason. Administrators will attempt in some cases to contact providers whose applications are rejected to relay the reason for the rejection, but they may not do so.

Est. Budget (top)

Est. budget ('estimated budget') is a buyer's approximation of what they are willing to spend per individual contract.

Est. Budget/Hr. (top)

Est. budget/hr. ('estimated budget per hour') is the estimated budget divided by the estimated hours for a contract (est. budget / est. hrs.)

Est. Hrs. (top)

Est. hrs. ('estimated hours') is the sum of preparation time and estimated talk time for a contract (prep. time + talk time).

Est. Call Time (top)

Est. call time ('estimated call time') indicates how long a buyer estimates a conversation will last with an ideal provider. Providers are compensated for 100% of preparation time and for the amount of time they actually spend on the phone with a buyer. Estimated phone time is combined with preparation time to generated estimated hours, which is then combined with estimated budget to generated the estimated budget per hour figure (estimated phone time + preparation time = estimated hours; estimated hours / estimated budget = estimated budget per hour).

Est. Referral $ / Referral Rewards (top)

All contracts on the KnowledgeBid system have a referral commission attached to them. A successful referral occurs when a provider is selected by a buyer for a contract within a listing and the provider was invited to join KnowledgeBid through a referral email sent through the KnowledgeBid platform about that specific listing. Users who have set up accounts can send referral emails by clicking the referral links shown within a listing. When a successful referral occurs, the referrer gets the reward. Referral rewards displayed in green within listings are estimates of referral rewards based on the buyers' estimates about the call duration and their budget. Actual referral rewards will be based on the actual call duration and the actual provider's hourly rate (actual referral reward = (preparation time + call time) * provider's rate * 10%). The referral email enables recipients to opt-out of receiving referral emails from KnowledgeBid.

Feedback Given / Feedback Received (top)

After a buyer and provider have spoken, a contract is considered executed. Thereafter both the buyer and provider will be prompted to leave feedback for the other party about the transaction. Feedback given and received becomes part of the buyer and provider profile.

Hourly Rate (top)

Each provider sets their hourly pay rate in their profile. When a provider's application is selected by a buyer, the contract locks in the provider's hourly rate at that time. Buyers pay the hourly rate they see associated with applications. Providers can change their hourly rates at any time, but buyers can see the last time that at provider edited their hourly rate. This allows buyers to tell if providers are tweaking their rates to max out the listings budget.

Identity Authentication (top)

KnowledgeBid providers can authenticate their identity through the KnowledgeBid Identity Authentication system. The test prompts providers with questions generated in real time about information related to the name and address they have listed within their account. The questions are generated from 900 data sources in real time, making it nearly impossible for someone to pass the test attempting to be someone else. Similar systems are used by financial institutions when they wish to verify user identities for high risk online transactions. Identity authentication is a tool for buyers to use in their decision making process when choosing provider on the KnowledgeBid platform. Please note that KnowledgeBid does not guarantee providers in any way. KnowledgeBid is strictly a tool that allows buyers to make these assessments on their own.
